Far East Battery at the 2026 High-Tech Energy Storage Industry Summit: Reshaping the Value of Independent Energy Storage Through Full-Lifecycle Value Delivery
Categories:Date:2026-07-24
From July 23 to 24, 2026, the 2026 (5th) High-Tech Energy Storage Industry Summit, jointly organized by High-Tech Energy Storage and the Gaogong Industry Research Institute (GGII), was held in Nantong, Jiangsu, China. The summit brought together leading companies and senior executives from across the energy storage industry to exchange insights on technological innovation, market mechanisms, business models, and industry collaboration.
Ma Chenglong, Senior Partner of Far East Battery and Head of the Energy Storage Research Institute, was invited to attend the summit. At the “Energy Storage Cells · Systems · 3S: Full-Lifecycle Transformation” session, he delivered a keynote speech titled “Value Reshaping of Independent Energy Storage in the Era of Capacity Pricing,” sharing insights into the evolving business logic of independent energy storage and the pathways to enhancing project value throughout the lifecycle.

01 | Value Reshaping: From Equipment Assets to Comprehensive Energy Assets
As renewable energy capacity continues to expand, the power system is facing growing demand for flexible regulation capabilities. Independent energy storage is therefore entering a critical stage of large-scale development. However, in the past, project revenues relied heavily on peak-valley price arbitrage, making profitability vulnerable to electricity price fluctuations and changes in market rules, while creating uncertainty around investment returns.

According to Ma Chenglong, the introduction of capacity pricing mechanisms is driving independent energy storage from a single-revenue model toward diversified value creation. In the future, independent energy storage is expected to develop a diversified revenue structure combining capacity pricing, energy trading, and ancillary services.
Capacity pricing provides a fundamental revenue base. Energy trading unlocks the market value of energy storage assets. Ancillary services further leverage the system's capabilities in frequency regulation, peak shaving, and other grid-support applications.
This shift in revenue models is also changing the asset attributes of independent energy storage. No longer simply equipment for storing and discharging electricity, independent energy storage is evolving into a comprehensive energy asset that integrates capacity support, electricity market participation, and flexible grid regulation.
02 | Capability Upgrade: Building Full-Lifecycle Value
The evolving market environment is placing higher demands on energy storage companies. In the face of challenges related to grid connection, electricity market participation, equipment operation, cost fluctuations, and project financing, companies need comprehensive capabilities spanning from underlying technology development to long-term project operation.
In response, Far East Battery is building full-lifecycle value delivery capabilities around three core strengths: full-stack technology, financial services, and AI-powered operations.
Full-Stack Technology: Strengthening Safety and Performance
Far East Battery continues to enhance its technology capabilities across the entire chain, from battery cells and PACK systems to complete energy storage systems. Through core technology development and system-level safety design, the company continues to improve the safety, stability, and operational performance of energy storage systems across diverse application scenarios.
Financial Services: Supporting Investment and Project Development
Leveraging the resources and capabilities of a listed company platform, Far East Battery continues to explore financing support, performance assurance, and diversified cooperation models. These efforts help ease project financing pressures and reduce long-term operational risks, while driving the energy storage business beyond conventional equipment sales toward service models focused on long-term project returns and investment performance.
AI-Powered Operations: Enhancing Long-Term Project Returns
Through its self-developed EMS intelligent dispatch system, cloud-edge collaborative O&M platform, and AI algorithms, Far East Battery continuously analyzes energy storage system operating data to support fault warning and operational strategy optimization. This is driving energy storage power station operations from experience-based management toward data-driven and intelligent operations, helping improve long-term project performance and returns.
03 | Business Model Transformation: From Equipment Delivery to Value Delivery
Far East Battery's energy storage business currently covers multiple application areas, including large-scale source-grid-side independent energy storage, commercial and industrial energy storage, and overseas energy storage projects.
To address the specific needs of different scenarios, Far East Battery continues to strengthen its capabilities in system development, project delivery, and localized operations. Large-scale independent energy storage projects focus on system scale and long-term operational performance. C&I energy storage solutions are designed around customer load profiles and electricity pricing mechanisms. Overseas projects place greater emphasis on certification requirements, market conditions, and localized services.
The diversity of application scenarios is driving competition in the energy storage industry beyond individual product capabilities toward comprehensive support across the value chain. Against this backdrop, Far East Battery is evolving its business model from conventional equipment sales toward integrated value delivery combining technology, products, services, and operations, helping customers achieve safe operation and long-term value throughout the project lifecycle.
The keynote speech at the High-Tech Energy Storage Industry Summit reflected Far East Battery's in-depth perspective on the development of independent energy storage in the era of capacity pricing, as well as its understanding of the evolving competitive dynamics of the industry.
Looking ahead, Far East Battery will continue to strengthen core technology development, intelligent operations, and project delivery capabilities. Working together with partners across the industry, the company will continue to explore new pathways for unlocking the value of independent energy storage, driving the industry from equipment delivery toward long-term value delivery, and providing stable and reliable energy storage support for the development of new power systems.
