From November 18th to 20th, 2024, the 9th International Summit on Power Battery Applications (CBIS2024) was grandly held in Shanghai. This summit focused on the forefront of the industry, constructing a platform for in-depth communication and cooperation in the global power battery field. Wang Zuocheng, Assistant Director of the Cell R&D Department in Far East Battery Research Institute, was invited to attend this summit as a company representative and delivered a keynote speech titled "High-Energy-Density and High-Rate Cylindrical Batteries Empowering the Take-off of the Low-Altitude Economy" on the afternoon of November 18th.

He conducted an in-depth analysis of the special requirements for battery technology in the emerging field of the low-altitude economy. The low-altitude economy is a comprehensive economic form that drives the integrated development of related industries with the low-altitude flight activities of manned and unmanned civil aircraft as the leading factor, showing a vigorous development momentum. It imposes extremely stringent requirements on battery cells, demanding that batteries possess key performance characteristics such as high energy density, high rate, and low-temperature resistance.

Having been deeply engaged in the lithium battery field for many years, Far East has accumulated substantial R&D strength in the field of cylindrical batteries, which endows it with greater advantages in the R&D and mass production of advanced battery materials and enables it to conduct research and development on high-performance power batteries for low-altitude applications more swiftly. In his speech, Wang Zuocheng mainly shared Far East's product and technology layout in the low-altitude track of cylindrical batteries.

Far East Battery has continuously invested in the R&D of cylindrical battery technology and achieved remarkable results. The self-developed composite silicon-based anode technology can increase the anode capacity by 50%. This breakthrough has significantly enhanced the energy density of batteries, meeting the requirement of high energy density for low-altitude flight. Meanwhile, by constructing a high-strength composite conductive network, the conductivity of the positive and negative electrodes has been increased by 50%, effectively ensuring the stable performance of batteries during high-rate charging and discharging processes and guaranteeing the reliable operation of batteries under the complex working conditions of low-altitude flight. In addition, the low-temperature composite electrolyte technology developed by Far East is a remarkable highlight. This technology enables batteries to function normally even in a low-temperature environment of -40°C, overcoming the limitations of low temperature on battery performance and providing a solid guarantee for the safe operation of low-altitude flight in cold climate conditions.

Dr. Wang also introduced the short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals of Far East's cylindrical battery product planning. It will continue to bring innovative achievements such as high-energy-density products and full-tab products to the market.
