800MWh! The largest string-type energy storage station in the country successfully connects to the grid!

Far East Energy Storage has assisted in the construction of a 200MW/800MWh independent energy storage station in Hengshui, Hebei. The company provided complete energy storage system equipment and full-process services. The project successfully grid-connected and has been operating smoothly recently. As the largest string-type energy storage station in China, this project, after being put into operation, will use energy storage equipment for peak shaving and valley filling, enhancing the ability to absorb wind, solar, and other renewable energy in the regional power grid, thereby contributing to the green and low-carbon development of the regional economy.

The project consists of 40 energy storage units, each with a capacity of 5MW/20MWh, connected to the 35kV side of a 220kV booster station via 10 power collection lines, ensuring efficient and stable operation. The overall solution includes 160 units of 5MWh DC-side energy storage containers, 40 units of 5MW string-type PCS integrated with a booster, a smart EMS energy management system, and high-reliability Far East cables for system interconnection.

The project is located in Wuyi County, Hengshui, Hebei, where the complex soil conditions and construction challenges place higher demands on the system's adaptability and stability, while also requiring the construction period to be as short as possible for timely delivery. Far East's 5MWh energy storage system demonstrates exceptional product performance and flexibility, ensuring the successful grid connection and operation of the Hengshui energy storage project.

The energy storage system utilizes the self-developed PowerSTROM 5000 series liquid-cooled energy storage containers, with a single unit capacity of 5.016MWh. These containers are characterized by high energy efficiency, stability, reliability, and flexible configuration. The product adopts a standard 20-foot single-side door design, enabling multi-level fire protection and multi-level interlocking safeguards. The intelligent temperature control system effectively controls temperature rise and differential, significantly enhancing the system’s cycle life.The 5MW conversion and boosting integrated units in the project consist of a 5000kVA transformer and 24 units of 215kW string-type PCS. This setup reduces inter-cluster circulation, improves charge-discharge efficiency, increases throughput during the operational cycle, and is easy to operate and maintain. It is currently the largest energy storage project in China to use string-type PCS. This independent energy storage station can provide leasing services for renewable energy plants, while also participating in grid peak shaving, frequency regulation, and market-based trading, supporting the transformation of the energy structure and contributing to green, low-carbon development.
