Xiang Jiangfeng: LFP battery will prevail in the energy storage market


Xiang Jiangfeng, PhD in chemistry & Executive Director of FEB Research Institute, was invited to attend the "2022 GG Energy Storage Annual Meeting" from December 12 to 13, 2022,  and delivered the speech on "Longevity LFP ESS Solution".

He pointed out that against the backdrop of aggravated global energy crisis and soaring electricity prices overseas, global ESS market is rapidly expanding in various application scenarios as ESS market demand is spiking. Container energy storage and residential energy storage come under global spotlight. Thanks to the advantages of large energy density and long service life, LFP batteries have been widely applied to energy storage scenarios, i.e. power generation, household power consumption,representing the mainstream technology of electrochemical energy storage and enjoying large potential of development.


Seizing the business opportunity from explosive growth in ESS industry, Far East Battery speeds up the development and promotion of its energy storage business, has worked out the all-round strategic plan for energy storage market and created a diversified product matrix including portable mobile power, RESS products, I&C ESS products and container ESS products, which are applicable to multiple application scenarios.


FEB products become more and more popular in European RESS markets, which comprise HV stackable series, LV wall-mounted series and rack-mounted series with the advantages of application of independently-developed LFP cells, modular design, flexible scalability and high reliability. While tapping overseas market potential, FEB continues to expand the domestic ESS market: the first generation of 40ft and 20ft container ESS products have been ready for production; FEB applies the DC-side liquid cooling plus cluster-level management innovation technology to its second generation products, adopts intelligent, automatic and informationized manufacturing system and safety design to achieve high stability and reliability, and will get mass production conditions ready in mid 2023; meanwhile, FEB has also proactively planned for the third-generation fully-integrated products with the advantages of higher cooling efficiency and integration as well as better adaptability to enhance its core competitive edges in products for power generation.

As for cost and safety performance closely followed by ESS end users, FEB regards R&D of LFP cell as its core, has built independent research and production chain from cell to module and to PACK to ensure safety performance of energy storage system; regarding the economic performance, FEB focuses on the breakthroughs of key technologies, continues to increase battery cycle times through material innovation, structural optimization so as to achieve longevity energy storage and reduce the use-cost of ESS products.
