Far East Battery Supports the Successful Grid Connection of Minfeng County’s First Grid-Forming Energy Storage Project in Southern Xinjiang

200MW/800MWh project strengthens regional grid flexibility and supports renewable energy development
Recently, the 200MW/800MWh grid-forming independent energy storage project in Minfeng County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang, China, supported by Far East Battery (FEB), has successfully achieved grid connection.
As the first new energy storage demonstration project in Minfeng County, the project adopts FEB’s PowerSTROM 6000 liquid-cooled energy storage system solution, providing strong support for improving regional grid flexibility, enhancing renewable energy integration, and advancing the development of a new energy-based power system in Southern Xinjiang.
Located in Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang, the project has a total capacity of 200MW/800MWh. It consists of 125 battery storage containers and 32 transformer-inverter integrated units, forming 32 energy storage units connected to the grid through eight 35kV collector circuits.

As renewable energy deployment continues to accelerate, power systems face increasing demands for stability, flexibility, and efficient energy management. The project applies advanced grid-forming technologies to enhance grid support capabilities, enabling more stable operation under high-penetration renewable energy scenarios.
The system supports both grid-connected and off-grid operation modes, allowing rapid response to grid dispatch requirements. Through participation in applications such as frequency regulation, peak load shifting, auxiliary services, and electricity market operations, the project further enhances the value of energy storage assets.

PowerSTROM 6000: Designed for Large-Scale Energy Storage Applications
The project adopts FEB’s PowerSTROM 6000 liquid-cooled energy storage container solution, developed for large-scale source-grid-side energy storage applications.
Featuring high integration, high efficiency, and strong environmental adaptability, PowerSTROM 6000 is designed to meet the requirements of large-scale energy storage projects in complex operating environments.
The system supports a maximum capacity of 6.25MWh per container and adopts an innovative modular Pack structure, enabling rapid replacement and simplifying maintenance processes. Its detachable CCS design supports independent NTC replacement, extending system service life and improving lifecycle reliability.
Designed for extreme climates, PowerSTROM 6000 supports operation at temperatures as low as -45°C. Combined with intelligent thermal management technology, the system ensures safe and reliable operation even under challenging environmental conditions.
