Far East Battery Launches 21700-55S High-Rate Cylindrical Cell with 3C Fast-Charging Capability
Categories:Date:2026-09-16
Amid growing demand for high-power applications, Far East Battery has officially launched its new-generation 21700-55S cylindrical lithium-ion cell.
Building on its expertise in high-capacity cylindrical cells, Far East Battery has optimized its material system, cell structure and manufacturing processes to further enhance rate performance while maintaining high capacity. The new 21700-55S is designed to provide a balanced combination of capacity, charging capability and high-power output for demanding applications.

Balancing Capacity and High-Rate Performance
The 21700-55S builds on Far East Battery's experience in high-capacity cell development while introducing improvements in high-rate performance.
Key specifications include:
High capacity and high-rate performance: With a minimum capacity of 5,500mAh, the cell supports up to 16.5A continuous charging current, 40A continuous discharge current, and 70A peak discharge current, supporting applications that require both sustained energy and high power output.
Reliable cycle performance: Under specified test conditions, with 16.5A charging and 20A discharging, the cell maintains more than 80% of its initial capacity after 300 charge-discharge cycles.
Designed for High-Power Applications
The 21700-55S is designed for a range of high-power applications where rapid power response, sustained output and charging performance are important.
Power tools:
For high-end power tools, garden tools and other equipment requiring high-current discharge, the 21700-55S supports up to 40A continuous discharge and 70A peak discharge, providing high-power output for demanding operating conditions.
Electric mobility:
For high-speed electric motorcycles, electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers, the cell is designed to support acceleration and climbing performance. Its low internal resistance helps reduce energy losses while supporting stable power output and extended operating range.
Drones:
For consumer and industrial drones, the 21700-55S combines high energy density with high-rate discharge capability to support flight endurance and power response. In testing, the cell achieved a 90.5% discharge efficiency at -20°C, demonstrating its ability to maintain power output under low-temperature conditions.
Moving Beyond Capacity: Toward High-Rate Cylindrical Cells
As cylindrical cell technology continues to evolve, performance requirements are expanding beyond capacity alone to include rate capability, cycle life and reliability.
The launch of the 21700-55S further expands Far East Battery's cylindrical cell portfolio, providing a high-rate option for applications with increasing power demands and supporting the company's continued development of high-performance battery technologies.
